Our home-based therapy program is rooted in science.

Neurofeedback is a proven method that has long been used in other areas of medicine and psychotherapy.

What is Neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback is a non-invasive way to measure and control your brain waves. This form of therapy allows you to retrain an otherwise involuntary body process – your brain activity – through conditioning. Conditioning in this context means, that the brain activity regulates itself, when getting continuous sensory feedback for example through visual feedback.

How does it work?

One or more electrodes placed on your head measure the brain activity in these targeted areas. An app visualizes the brain activity, giving feedback about how active these regions currently are. With the help of the visual feedback, you can try to manipulate the activity but be aware that is takes practice and the brain is also trained automatically through conditioning.

That’s it! Pain-free, drug-free, and completely non-invasive. All you have to do is put on the EEG and keep practicing regularly.

How does Brainhero use Neurofeedback?

With Brainhero, the brain regions to be trained and the training approach are selected according to the diagnosis. During the training, users must try to change their brain activity so that a threshold value is exceeded. When the game character on the screen flies in the desired direction, the trainees know that they have been successful. In the game, several targets (stars and flowers) are placed at different heights to tempt the trainees to fly the character there and thus change their brain activity. Since all changes are displayed in real time, the brain subconsciously understands (through trial and error) what it needs to do to control the game character.

Why is this helpful?

In certain conditions, such as ADHD (= Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) or ASD (= Autism Spectrum Disorder) the brain activity can be distorted.
Neurofeedback training is a proven approach that – when practiced regularly – allows you to retrain specific areas of your brain to bring it back to its functional best.

Neurofeedback Research

Research has shown that the brains of children with ASD (=Autism Spectrum Disorder) and ADHD (=Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) improve their functioning upon training in specific areas. Our EEG device “Orbit” was developed to enable the measurement and training of brain activity in the areas that provide the greatest benefit.
